My Life

Well, it's been such a LONG TIME since my last post! I don't think anyone actually reads my blog anyway so not much to lose by not posting. I guess I blog for my own benefit and as a way to remember my life while I still have babies in my nest.

Jordan is now 18 yrs old and graduated from high school. He will be going to barber college within the next few months. He's still in my "nest" but certainly has grown his own wings and loves to "fly" as far away and as often as possible! He's working in a local bar prober shop 5 days a week and perfecting his future profession every day. He has dreams of being a barber to athletes and famous people someday and I must say I believe he will reach that goal. He cuts a mean head of hair and the designs he cuts are amazing!!! He is a typical 18 yr old. He wants to do his own thing & Joel and I are his safety net when he needs us. He's a great young man but boy is he stubborn!! Like I said....typical!

Kota just started high school ( where has the time gone)!!! He loves it! He played baseball all spring/summer and will be starting a fall baseball league after Labor Day. He is starting to spread his own wings as well. He's gone a lot of the time which mean Joel and I have had a few "date nights" which have been much needed. We realize as the boys get older if we are not best friends with each other then we are doomed. Joel is my soft place to fall and still my best friend as I travel this road in life.

I must say, parenting teenagers is tough. I sure wish there was an instruction book to help guide us on this journey. Alas, there is not so we continue to do the best we can and make many mistakes along the way! I pray as the boys grow into fine young men they realize we did the best we could. God knows they are a true blessings and we love them beyond measure!

I am preparing my classroom for the new school year. I'm ready to go back to school and look forward to what the new school year has in store for my students and myself.

I hope any one that does read this has had an enjoyable summer. May God continue to light your path and lead you closer to HIM!

It's Been Way too Long!

Well, I am alive and well and still living in Illinois! Like my title says, it has been way too long since I have last blogged.

I am still teaching at a small christian school.  Jordan is now a junior in high school and his junior year is almost over!  He's 17, loaded with attitude, has a job upmpiring for the summer and is full of piss and vinegar!

Kota is finishing his 7th grade year in junior high and doing great!  He got co-MVP for 7th grade basketball again this year with his best friend, Adam, and baseball is in full swing again.  He has a game tonight, a tournament in Rock Island for his travel team, the Streator Bandits, and taking batting lessons when Joel can find the time to take him!  He is hitting the ball extremely well!

I am looking forward to the end of the school year and ready for summer.  I work 9 months out of the year and can't complain a bit!

Joel is doing great!  He is working a lot and busy helping coach Kota's baseball team.  Our precious Sunny, is happy, healthy and living the life every dog dreams of!

I hope all is well with everyone that reads this blog (which I'm sure is not many, maybe just my cousin, Carol) and be blessed always!

District 20 Champs Again!!!

The boys did it again! They won the District 20 Championship beating Ottawa National 11's 8-7 with a walk off homer by our power hitter, Caleb Osborn!!!

It was a game to end all games! We were the home team so lucky enough to have last at bat. Ottawa scored 1 run in the first inning and 5 in the second inning to lead the game 6-0. Kota came in to pitch in the 3rd inning and didn't allow any runs until the 6th inning when he gave up a home run! Anyway, we scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th and with Ottawa's HR in the 6th the score was now 7-3 going into the bottom of the 6th. Ottawa thought they had the game in the bag but our boys are not quitters and they showed that with true Streator pride!!

We were at the top of our batting order and Kota bats in the #3 spot so he hit a single to drive in a run then we had another run score on a passed ball by the catcher. Score is now 7-5 and we had Kota on 3rd base and a runner on 1st with two outs. Caleb comes up to bat at when the pitch count was 3-1 the pitcher throws a fast ball down the middle and Caleb swings and sends the ball over right field fence, past Ottawa fans bleachers and into the second row of cars in the parking lot!!!! WALK OFF 3 RUN HOMER TO WIN THE GAME 8-7!!! UNBELIEVABLE TO SAY THE LEAST! We were going nuts, the boys were going nuts, our head coach, John, was in disbelief and Kota runs down the 3rd base line in celebration and does a round off and back flip! It was a game to treasure for a lifetime for these boys!!!

So now we are heading to Mendota Sat. night for our first game of Section 5 regionals! There are 3 other teams in this region so if we win we are State bound. I hope the boys play hard and bring home another Section win for Streator!

GO STREATOR 11 YR. OLD ALL STARS!!! YOU BOYS ROCK!!!

We just didn't play well, that's all there is to it! Let's go Streator 11s and show then what we got!

District 20 Championship Game tonight

Kota plays for the District 20 champ game tonight at 6pm in Spring Valley. He came in Sunday night as relief pitcher and did an awesome job of throwing strikes and helping us get the win!

It's gonna be a hot one tonight but thank goodness my mom bought us a canopy tent to use to provide some shade. That will be up in full force tonight! If the boys win tonight they move on to sectional play in Mendota, which means we will be one step closer to going to state again! I'm not wanting to "count my chickens before they hatch" so that's all I'm saying about that!

Hope everyone is enjoy their summer. With the heat advisory in effect until at least tomorrow please stay cool, out of the heat and find some air conditioning!

The Dog Days of Summer

We are officially in the dog days of summer! The days are long, I'm feeling lazy and the kids are on the go, go, go!!! I am nearing the end of my summer vacation very soon and I can't say I'm too upset about it. There is something to be said for getting up for work every day and being productive and getting things done in a timely manner. Don't get me wrong....I enjoy my summer vacation but it ends at just the right time. I work 9 months out of the year and I'm off for 3 so the it all balances out in the end.

Kota has his third district all star game tomorrow night and we play Pekin. It will be an interesting game and I pray the boys bring all they have and win this game which will bring us one step closer to going to state!

We have had a great summer and I enjoy every day that I get to sleep in! Enjoy the rest of your summer and soak up that sun cause it will be over way too quickly!

Happy Days to you all!

Summertime in the Limberg House

It's summertime alright and that means.....up late at night, baseball games and friends hanging out and spending the night during the weekdays. Kota and I are famous for sleeping until the early afternoon hours and staying up until the wee hours of the morning. Our bodies are on a totally different schedule in the summer.

Jordan has friends over quite a bit. Tonight for instance, about 5 friends over hanging out playing dance game on Xbox, eating at McDonald's and then taking 3 cars to go to Dairy Queen since none of them are old enough to have more than one person in the car with them legally! Oh how I love summertime!!!!!

Not only do I not have to work in the summer, but I can enjoy my boys and their friends which I love! I hope you enjoy your summers as well.
